The Honda made a decision to discontinue the model back in 2014 in order to replace it with a lesser end Civic. However, not that hybrids are on a roll once more, the manufacturer disclosed that an all-new model with the 2019 Honda Insight.
Though there are still some missing details, the car seems quite impressive and it feels like it could possibly be a significant step up over its predecessor. For starters, the car is no more using a Fit-based platform. Instead, it seems like the newest Insight may be using Honda’s brand new modular structure which also underpins the Civic.
2019 Honda Insight Overview
This is a relatively lightweight platform famous for good structural rigidity. The only real drawback we see it would be the price but more on that later. Thanks to the new platform, the newest 2019 Honda Insight is wider and longer than ever before. However, the car is definitely lower that helps it produce a very different look than that of its predecessor.
It looks like it might use a fully independent setup with disc brakes at all four corners. This should assure the car won’t only be effective but it will also drive quite nicely. There are a number of drawbacks to its own size. Even though the car is larger than its predecessor, it also means it won’t be as effective as a city as before. This might not be a huge bargain for a few but it may still be a problem for some of its buyers.
Redesign Interior and Exterior
Likely one of the biggest improvements over the old models is the way the new Insight looks. Instead of looking like just another dull wedge-shaped car, Honda basically united the design of the Civic sedan with the face of the Accord. The end result is quite impressive with a clean-looking front end, a large and imposing grille as well as a coupe-like posture.
The rear is every bit as impressive with perfectly sized tail lighting, a clean-bumper as well as a comparatively tall rear which makes it look like a genuine coupe. In the renders it appears like the cabin of the 2019 Honda Insight will be as impressive as its exterior. For starters, the car is not likely to share much with the Civic or the Accord. The center stack will probably be quite minimalist using a pop-up infotainment system.
There is going to be a fully digital instrument cluster in store also while the centre console will only feature buttons for the transmission and emergency brakes and that is it. The odd thing about the cabin has to be the positioning of the AC vents in the center stack which are supporting the infotainment system. This is likely because Honda wanted the car to be as clean as you can but it does take away from its usability.
2019 Honda Insight Engine
The car will have a version of Accord’s 2.0 liter naturally aspirated hybrid mill. Despite what some of the rumors stated, it looks like the 2019 Honda Insight is not likely to feature a 1.3-liter engine. Rather, the car will include a version of Accord’s 2.0 liter naturally aspirated hybrid mill. This is likely going to provide less than 200 horsepower but even so, it still ought to be quite impressive.
The dual electric motor system alongside the high-efficiency gasoline engine is likely going to supply a total of approximately 130 to 160 horsepower. The best thing about this system is going to be its efficiency. If this occurs then the new Insight may turn into one of the very effective hybrids out there.
Price and Release Date
The Honda didn’t state when the new 2019 Honda Insight will reach the market or when they will fully reveal it. However, taking into consideration the car appears nearly completed, we could expect it in the upcoming month and it should hit the market by the summer of 2018. This would actually make it even more costly than previously but then again, the car should include more features too.
