The 2020 Kia Sportage will reunite with the familiar engines and there are two engines in the offer. The base is a 2.4-liter inline-4 engine that is capable of making 181 horses along with 175 pound-feet of torque. The engine works using a 6-speed automatic transmission and features a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. The LX model with front-wheel drive has 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway while the EX version is rated at 22/29 mpg. Connected to wheels, it is anticipated to be 21 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
2020 Kia Sportage Changes and Preview
In the conditions of external appearance, the newest 2020 Kia Sportage won’t receive any major changes this time. It will keep up with its clean design which has been revised for the preceding model year. The front fascia today looks more masculine with a refreshed lower bumper. There is also a comfortable tiger-nose grille and a set of highly-positioned headlamps. They come with complete LED lighting.
This model will also get 19-inch alloy wheels as standard while the base model will ride on the 17-inch wheels. The cabin of the 2020 Kia Sportage will be very pleasant, spacious, and well designed. All the seats are very supportive and comfy even at long drives. The driver’s seat is a 6-way adjustable while on the higher extremities levels the rear seats are also heated.
The two-row seats configuration is standard and there is also lots of space for storage and cargo. With up all seats, the Sportage has the cargo room of 30.7 cubic feet. However, with all the second-row seats folded down, the Kia expands its cargo room to 60.1 cubic feet. The base model comes with fabric upholstery while the leather is offered at the higher extremities. Furthermore, that a 5.0-inch touchscreen is standard, however, the bigger 7.0-inch screen is also offered for upper trim levels.
Interior Design and Features
The 2020 Kia Sportage will be offered in several trim levels and those will include the base LX, EX, and SX models. The base Sportage LX will come standard with power features, 17-inch wheels, air conditioning, a 5.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, an AM/FM/CD player with 6 speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, USB port, a rearview camera, stain-resistant upholstery, and automatic headlamps.
But, an available package will add a bigger 7.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment and Apple CarPlay and Android auto connectivity, a power driver seat, heated front seats, and automatic climate control. The mid-range EX model will add a shiny interior trim, an additional USB port, leather upholstery, cross-traffic alert, power-folding side mirrors with turn signals, blind-spot monitors, and 18-inch wheels. Automatic emergency braking will probably be optional.
2020 Kia Sportage Engine
The next option is a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine. This powertrain will be able to deliver 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It will also be mated into a 6-speed automatic gearbox and will be offered with front- and all-wheel drive settings. As for the gas economy, this engine is rated at 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway with the front-wheel-drive system. The all-wheel-drive model gets 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
On the other hand, the new Kia should also get a diesel unit and it is going to be a 1.6-liter engine. This one will probably be available with either 113 horses or 134 hp. It’ll use a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and will include all-wheel drive configuration. Moreover, it could also get a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine using a mild-hybrid unit and a battery of 48-volt.
Release Date and Price
It is not yet officially confirmed when precisely the 2020 Kia Sportage must go on sale. But we feel that it might be sometime during next year, perhaps in late 2019. The price shouldn’t differ much in the present model which begins at around $24,000.
